Ribbed Band
The Ribbed Band was inspired by ribbed vaults throughout gothic architecture. Ribbed vaults featured center spines which allowed them to reduce the weight of arches and transfer the load downwards. In the ribbed band we mimic the central spine seen in many examples of these arches from the 12th -16th century.
